Why is shadow the hedgehog a bad game

I could not believe people actually liked this game. It was enough that game was too slow, and too long. But now, Sega has tarnished Sonic with Jason Griffith, a voice actor of who we all know from the most utter piece of crap I have ever seen, Sonic X. But I do not even have to stress that. Shadow the Hedgehog is a feeble attempt to get gamers to buy Shadow and think it's cool. The fact of the matter is that it's not cool. It is stupid, repetitive, and just torture to the ears.

In this game, you basically run around and use the homing attack, or the gun if you choose, and "mowing" down enemies. Unfortunately, it's more complicated. Depending on what you do, you can only attack certain enemies, and because this, the game slows down, and gets aggravating quick. Also, there are over different things in this game to earn, but I doubt that people will have the patience.

Even though there is replay value, it really does not make a difference. The story is by far the corniest crap I have ever seen. We take a deeper look into "Shadow's past", and watch it unveil into something greater. However, I was not particularly interested. I wanted Sonic, not this all but dead character. The graphics have not improved. Although the CG cut scenes are well rendered, they are far from entertaining.

They will explain the storyline, but I did not find them enjoyable. In-game graphics are much like what you would see in Sonic Heroes, despite the fact that Sega claims that there is a new graphics engine. As for the sound, the music will rock you if you are a fan of Crush 40 or sonic in general, but not so much for anyone else.

As for the voice acting, don't stress me on that. It was awful, period. I suppose this is why Nintendo chose not to make Link talk. Now, do not get me wrong, I am a Sonic fan, and I wish I could say better about this game. All right, the title for this comment doesn't mean that's a bad thing. This is not like other Sonic games because it's a Shadow game.

The game is made to personify Shadow's character; a confused hedgehog capable of great and terrible things. The game is much darker than others and has a much more involved storyline that finally ties up all the loose ends left in Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes. Story: The story is a bit out there, even for a Sonic game, but it's still a great one. The story opens up with Shadow trying to remember his past, the only thing he can remember is the gruesome murder of a girl named Maria.

As he contemplates this, the sky is filled with blood-shot clouds as aliens known as the Black Arms literally storm down and start killing and destroying everyone and everything. Laser cannons begin to shoot out from the sky, causing mass destruction. The leader, Black-Doom, then approaches Shadow and tells him to collect the seven Chaos Emeralds and give them to him as part of a promise made long ago. From there, it's up to you to decide what to do; serve the aliens, help Sonic and Gun, help eggman, or simply collect the emeralds for yourself.

Now, this is the basic concept, there is A LOT more going on in this game. The game has 10 different endings and you need to play through them all to understand what Shadow is all about.

Once this is done, the final level is opened and this reveals everything from the alien's intentions, to Black-Doom's relation to Shadow, and even mysteries in Sonic Adventure 2 such as why would Gerald create the Eclipse Cannon before he went insane. The story ties everything up nicely and, surprisingly, there are no plot holes.

The only complaint I have is that it is extremely difficult to know what event takes place when as there are so many paths to take Over , no joke. Gameplay: Now the gameplay can either suck or be great depending on which level you're on and which mission you're undertaking.

There's really no in between rating for gameplay, it's either great or horrible. The game's only saving grace is that it's actually a better game than Sonic Which is NOT saying a lot. No, she saw a cutscene with demonic monsters and Black Doom was speaking. I didn't want to say this, but I guess I should, straight after she snapped the disc, she got the Bible, and placed it on the snapped disc. She then prayed for me to remove those demonic stuff I saw in that game.

I was like okay? But anyway, I remember how confusing the game was. Not to mention I had the PS2 version. I remember talking about this game before here, it was this summer I think I think the game did have some good ideas as far as level design goes.

The cyberspace levels were quite an interesting addition and I did like how the levels were a bit more expansive, allowing for more exploration. Of course some stages like Lost Impact and Central City took this too far and ended up being just downright confusing since you got lost very easily.

There were some pretty neat ideas in some of the levels like those on-rails shooter sections when you were riding the black bird, surfing on the toxic waste in Prison Island, the rotating platforms in Cosmic Fall and hiding from the security camera in the GUN base. Too bad the slippery controls and lackluster execution ruined pretty much all of this.

That's funny, cause I find this the opposite. Mechanic's wise, sure I guess I could understand that, but I find myself coming to 06 more than that. There's more stuff to tinker with in 06 or just dick around. Shadow's story is far more coherent, Sonic 06's story is a mess. Says a lot that a game with an alien invasion does better than one with time travel then again, maybe not.

Shadow's game didn't have many glitches that were noticable, Sonic 06 had loads of glitches that made it far more infamous in the first place. And neither of their tones were handled well at all. Say what you will about either one, but it says a lot when many consider a game with an identity crisis to be better than the game that was meant to be the series 15th anniversary title. Is it okay if from that brief explanation of what happened, I say your moms a little kookoo religious wise?

I love my mom, she is only doing what's best for me. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. Sign up for a new account in our community.

More sharing options It happens multiple times during some levels. It just serves to frustrate the player to no end. Speaking of frustrating the player, the ground controls. Now if you want to feel what it would be like to play an entire game on ice, then 3D Sonic games are for you.

Your character has such terrible traction when in motion that you spend half of the time just trying to stay on course. I found the controls for the vehicles The few I got to pilot to be pretty solid. They did what I needed them to do and never worked against me. Also… well it makes it easy to select stages! It is an interesting dynamic as you can go through a stage doing all the tasks and just decide at the end, or you can focus on one and ignore the rest. It does add a level of replayability.

And the game has no shame in exploiting that. This forced replayability to get all the content is the type of padding in games I absolutely loathe. Undoing his own plan and saving the world nearly cost Shadow his life, but he reappeared in Sonic Heroes as an amnesiac in one of Dr. With the help of Rouge and their new robot friend E Omega, Shadow seeks answers from Eggman about his memory and finds nothing but dead ends and more questions.

His heel turn at the end of Sonic Adventure 2 to go against the revenge scheme is one of the first times Shadow decided anything for himself. But the sloppy and abstract execution gets easily lumped in with the bad ideas of giving a hedgehog a gun and having him swear. There are choices made and missions completed, but the culmination of all of these is rarely reflected in the ending you obtain.

As the entire thing has to be modular and can change from mission to mission. Shadow the Hedgehog has a lot of the same running and jumping as a standard Sonic game, but its missions give each level a branching path.

Each culminates in Shadow finding a specific handful of facts about his history, leading him to different interpretations of who he is and who he should be. Even for a darker character, the whole thing went overboard and is even acknowledged by the game itself. In the future that everyone is trying to avoid in this game, the world will turn against Shadow for fear of his power.
